Senior Business Analyst, Healthcare - Job Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a tech-savvy, solution-focused Senior Healthcare Management Business Analyst to become an integral contributor to our consulting team’s success. The ideal candidate understands how to collaborate with individuals, across multiple teams, to solve problems and has experience developing data-driven solutions that make important information easy to access, understand, and act upon. This analyst is eager to help our clients improve performance, develop strategies for the future, and gain a competitive edge in the marketplace. Successful business analysts are inquisitive, synthesize information quickly, possess good intuition, and project confidence. Analysts have opportunities to develop within their positions and grow within the larger team. Our team operates within a fast-paced environment that serves a diverse array of clients including health insurance companies, government agencies, healthcare providers, and healthcare purchasers.

Example Projects Include

  • Design a pricing model and marketing strategy for a new product
  • Assessing a client's clinical programs and analytic models
  • Conduct a market study to evaluate the feasibility of launching a new product
  • Evaluate a client’s administrative costs to identify improvement opportunities
  • Conduct analyses of provider networks and network adequacy
  • Help a state government agency develop a strategy for designing a health program
  • Conduct clinical program evaluations to identify and design program improvements
  • Helping a client prepare for accreditation or meet government requirements

Responsibilities

  • Research, synthesize, and evaluate healthcare information such as financial statements, vendor contracts, and operating expenses to identify trends and business insights
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis on complex healthcare and business data sets, using spreadsheets or more specialized tools
  • Analyze company revenue, profits / losses to support recommendations about savings opportunities
  • Perform technical tasks, such as, creating business requirements documents, user training manuals and guides, and requirements traceability matrices
  • Develop executive level presentations to clearly communicate key findings and data insights
  • Assist with project management to support client engagements and internal initiatives
  • A willingness and availability to travel up to 20% to client locations throughout the United States is required

Required

  • Bachelors degree in business, economics, finance, or similar field
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in quantitative or business-related fields, such as finance, economics, accounting, or business administration
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for large data sets
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Word and PowerPoint
  • Data visualization skills and effective storytelling with data
  • Healthcare informatics, analytics, and reporting knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare concepts and data
  • Familiarity with healthcare financial and claims data and data analytic platforms
  • Strong quantitative, analytic, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a diverse team environment
  • Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks with little supervision, and manage concurrent projects to meet project timelines
  • Execute work with exceptional attention to quality, accuracy, and detail on all project tasks and work under time pressure

Preferred

  • Experience with Power BI or other data visualization software
  • Proficiency in R, Python, SQL, or similar tools
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in quantitative or business-related fields, such as finance, economics, accounting, or business administration
What we offer at Milliman

The salary range is $85,000 to $175,000, depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, location, etc. If overall experience is less than 5 years the range would be $85,000 to $140,000; for experience of greater than 5 years, the range would be $105,000 to $175,000.
