Job Description & Responsibilities
The Finance Data Services Team is looking for a Sr. Business Analyst to work directly with functional leaders in various Finance towers to enable and support Staples growth and continuous improvement through data-driven actionable insights and analytics. Join a team of cross-trained associates, fostering a collaborative environment where coverage for PTO and skill interchangeability are seamlessly integrated. Your expertise will contribute to the collective capability of the team, ensuring a cohesive and adaptable workforce. The Sr. Business Analyst works with multiple stakeholders to ensure we maintain and improve on our success via actionable analytics.
What you’ll be doing:
- Using tools like Alteryx and SQL Server Management for data mining and exploration
- Combining data sets across multiple data sources and delivering solutions in a useful and appealing manner to the end users, in ways that are universally understandable
- Tracking and assessing ROI on various business/strategic initiatives
- Developing and producing ongoing reports to track business KPIs
- Providing not only the report/tool, but also the analysis of patterns, trends, correlations, and recommendations for business decision-making
- Delivering high quality insights through tools like Power BI and Tableau
- Communicating results of analysis to various levels of the organization, including executive leadership, and help establish benchmark performance metrics
Requirements
What you bring to the table:
- Exceptional analytical and communication skills (written and verbal) – the role requires presenting to stakeholders and executives
- Proficiency in developing and delivering high quality, clear, and concise reports, dashboards, and presentations in PowerBI, Tableau, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Ability to translate business needs and offer insights and data driven recommendations that meet the business need
- Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including working with large datasets
- Innovative mindset to surface and advocate for alternate approaches and solutions to business and technology challenges
What’s needed- Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of working experience with data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau)
- Previous experience in transforming raw data into actionable insights
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and business audiences
What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Data Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- Previous experience in project management or leading analytical projects, demonstrating the ability to deliver results within specified timeline
- Previous experience with data modeling and ETL processes, including using SQL Server and Alteryx
- Previous experience with AS400 systems, Oracle and Snowflake
