Job Description & Responsibilities
Maravai LifeSciences is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our growing team! Reporting to the Senior Director, Assistant Controller, the Senior Business Analyst will be a key member of the Accounting team, working closely with Accounting leadership to manage both IT and non-IT projects, maintain effective control over accounting information systems and key reports, and serve as a backup for Accounting team members as necessary. Key business relationships include IT, Accounting, FP&A, SEC Reporting, and Treasury.
Description of Duties:
- Serve as business administrator for Blackline close management and reconciliation system, providing timely, proactive, and insightful guidance and support to users
- Serve as departmental project manager, maintaining IT and non-IT project calendar, driving clear lines of accountability through the use of RASCI, and regularly reporting status of outstanding projects to Accounting leadership
- Partner with IT and Accounting to ensure the Accounting team’s compliance with the Key Report Policy
- Support SOX compliance as a support owner and control owner for certain financial close and reporting controls, including GL maintenance.
- Support month, quarter, and year end close via management of internal and external open items lists, preliminary review of general ledger anomalies, etc.
- Own administration of pre-close meetings and gathering the content for those meetings in advance of month, quarter, and year end close.
- Serve as backup for Accounting team members as necessary during absences and augment overall Accounting team bandwidth during periods of increased workload
- Identifies and/or supports continuous improvements to systems, processes, and internal controls
- Supporting ad-hoc accounting projects and analysis as required
- Performs other functions and duties as required
Requirements
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ total years of relevant professional experience
- 1+ total years of system administration experience, Blackline preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, reporting, and compliance
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels of the organization
- Excellent writing/documentation skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Ability to operate with substantial latitude in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Demonstrated ability to scope and quantify issues and evaluate associated control considerations
- Leverages technical skills and understanding of the business to anticipate issues and make recommendations
- Public accounting experience preferred
- Biotech industry experience preferred
- Active CPA license preferred
What we offer
The anticipated salary range for this position is $81,000 - $134,000. In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package.
