Senior Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

Join us as a Senior Systems Business Analyst in our Private Banking Systems organization!

The Sr. Systems Business Analyst provides strategic technical analysis to business partners and also acts as a liaison between technical and business user groups. The focus of this position is to work closely with the business units to gain in-depth understanding of the Private Banking business strategy, processes, services, roadmap and the context in which the business operates.

The Senior Systems Business Analyst is responsible for defining and documenting business systems requirements and ensuring technology solutions enhance and support the business operations. Identify technology alternatives and recommends system solutions to business and technical audiences. And, identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Responsibilities will include a full range of activities from leading small to mid-size projects to assisting other project managers on larger more complex projects related to operational business functions that affect both internal and external clients. The Senior Systems Business Analyst participates in all phases of the systems development life cycle – from project scoping, planning and requirements definition to issues resolution, testing, training and implementation.

Responsibilities Include

  • Develop clear, concise methodology documents, which require proficiency in interviewing skills, workflow analysis, dataflow diagramming, screen design, etc.
  • Review and assist in development of project plans, project workflows as requested by Project Manager.
  • Facilitate the definition of functional requirements by working with programmers and users in prototyping and design sessions.
  • Translate system workflows into system configuration
  • Translate and present project concepts into effective visual images which clarify design elements and issues for both business and technical audiences.
  • Ensure methodology is followed for project; provide meaningful feedback in accordance with departmental standards and guidelines.
  • Identify, mediate, resolve and eliminate miscommunications between business and technical project team members.
  • Provide leadership to team members and peers by collaborating with others; articulating ideas and viewpoints to senior management, peers and others; driving the resolution of issues; and holding self and team accountable for results
  • Stay current with business needs and strategies and manage relationships and expectations by developing a communication process to keep others up-to-date on project results
  • Support and align efforts to meet business needs
  • Understand and negotiate needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders
  • Lead or participate in multiple projects by completing and updating project documentation; determining daily priorities; following proper escalation paths
  • Works to self-manage projects to budget/estimate and hit deadlines set forth by project leads/managers
  • Collaborate closely with developers to implement the requirements, provide necessary guidance to testers during QA process
  • Participate in development of test strategy, test plans and test cases
  • Participate in test execution and document results
  • Utilize Jira to organize, track, and update progress on projects throughout their entire life cycle.
  • Identify improvement opportunities (proactive and reactive)
  • Research and evaluate new technology solutions and present recommendations for improved system operations.
  • Support system conversions, upgrades, enhancements
Senior Business Analyst - Job requirements

Requirements & Qualifications Include

  • Financial Services experience, especially in Private Banking / Wealth Management / Asset Management
  • Experience in designing and/or supporting investor relations websites, mobile applications and client reporting/sales enablement tools strongly recommended
  • BA/BS degree and/or related work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience documenting specifications, preferably at a financial services company.
  • Full understanding of the business model or the area(s) supported.
  • Very Strong Analytical skills required
  • Must have experience working on large scale projects as well as handling day-to-day operational requests from the business
  • Strong time management, ability to successfully manage multiple tasks at any given point, strong relationship building skills & communication skills
  • Knowledge of all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle required
  • Data analysis – Must have proficiency with SQL, Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to create presentations using software such as Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Exposure to project work and project planning, as well as project management software.
  • Interviewing skills.
  • Written and oral communications skills
  • Problem solving/analytical skills
  • A technical/programming background a huge plus as this role requires a strong partnership and constant coordination with development team to agree on timelines and scope of work

Salary Range

95,000 - 130,000 (Jersey City)

BBH’s compensation program includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, and profit-sharing. The anticipated base salary range(s) shown above are only for the indicated location(s) and may differ in other locations due to cost of living and labor considerations.
