Job Description & Responsibilities
Davies Life and Health is looking for a Senior Business Analyst who will be responsible for planning, designing, guiding the development, and implementing information technology solutions. You will be responsible for applying analytical techniques and processes. As the Senior Business Analyst, you will provide guidance to IT and Business Departments to resolve complex technical implementation and project deliverables. The Senior Business Analyst will take responsibility to provide leadership on technology or process-improvement projects. In addition, you will provide guidance, training and consultation to other business analysts and developers.
To be successful in this role, you must take ownership of initiatives and drive projects to a successful conclusion. You must have superb communication skills to maintain effective relationships with your team, teammates, clients, and vendors. You must have 7-9 years of experience working as a business analyst, with strong leadership and analytical skills. Additionally, you will need to be proactive, independent, and take initiative as this is a full-time, home-based position.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Facilitate discussion sessions with clients/customers
- Provide guidance to the business and identify gaps in requirements
- Create business and technical requirements
- Understand and manage potential dependencies
- Partner with business users to understand and define scope
- Schedule client meetings as needed to get clarity on business needs
- Review requirements with clients and teams and participate in team and client meetings
- Develop or enhance training, support, and reference documents related to system changes/enhancements
- Provide end user support and training as needed
- Develop necessary process documentation, including process flow and context diagrams
- Prepare functional specification documents/enter functional details
- Create the Test Plan with all parties input required to ensure a holistic and complete view of what is required to provide a quality product
- Ensure we accommodate all phases and integration for testing and ensure test data readiness and planning are aligned to delivery dates
- Review test plan and test cases with internal team; suggest additional test scenarios, encourage reuse of test scripts
- Provide feedback on effectiveness of test scenarios, and validity of defects found
- Ensure regression testing is accounted for in the release deployment plan
- Identify reusable and or/complex test cases that are good candidate's for automation
- Identify change requests and work with Client Engagement Lead to determine impact to scope
- Identify solution options with team members
- Define, document, track and manage defects/issues during project closure
- Provide guidance to work around solutions as applicable
- Plan and communicate UAT schedule
- Facilitate UAT sessions and obtain client sign-offs
- Monitor UAT progress and resolve impediments
- Report UAT defects and write steps to reproduce defects
- Logging UAT findings and review them with the client for retest
- Participate and lead in BA COP
- Identify areas for improvement in current BA processes (new tools, automation, etc.)
- Review and update BA artifacts such as BRDs
- Maintain project documentation in appropriate folders
- Participate in special projects as requested and perform other related job functions as required

Requirements
Experience and Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree with 7-9 years’ of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Insurance industry experience
- Experience working in a leadership role
- Experience working with SDLC including Agile development methodologies
- Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Visio, PowerPoint and Excel
Preferred
- 3 years of experience working with life, long-term care, and/or disability insurance
- SQL knowledge
- OnBase experience

Position Type, Work Environment and Physical Demands
This is a home-based, full-time, salaried, exempt position that predominantly operates remotely from a professional home-based office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, photocopiers, and scanners and requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be required to regularly hear and talk. This is a largely sedentary role requiring the ability to sit at a desk, reach outward, use a phone, have use of fingers to operate office equipment such as a keyboard, mouse, phone, printer, copier, and to reach above the head, bend, or stand as necessary.
