Principal Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Principal Business Analyst to serve as a project coordinator. The Business Analyst is a relationship manager, and consultant to a set of business areas across the organization within our Innovation Lab. The analyst will work within our Experimentation and Emerging Technology team which is responsible for analyzing, prototyping, and documenting the application of technology and automation for solutions that can serve multiple lines of business in service to our mission. The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand business practices, document business requirements, ensure that information technology meets the requirement of end users, test and track work to completion, and ensure the solution provides the intended business value.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD

  • Help maintain a roadmap of all active projects with high-level timelines tracking project/portfolio performance metrics to monitor business value over time.
  • Coordinate the daily task and status of work within the Experimentation and Emerging tech projects.
  • Produce documentation such as process maps, high level requirements and high level UX screens (low fidelity screens using products like Balsamic or PowerPoint).
  • Investigate complex operations-related problems/inquiries and recommend, facilitate and coordinate solutions.
  • Evaluate new IT developments, applications and evolving business/systems requirements.
  • Prepare communications and make presentations on system enhancements and/or alternatives.
  • Work closely with clients to analyze the current and future direction of technology to meet business goals.
  • Educate clients about the software and project lifecycles and the business roles.
  • Facilitate problem resolution between IT and the business, as needed.
  • Represent, champion and balance client interests within IT.
  • Provide training and guidance to other staff.
  • Perform testing of the product at the site and remotely.
  • Log bugs and work with the developers for resolving the issues.
  • Drive user testing with field resources to check if the product works as desired from user point of view.
  • Frequent visits to the site to build relationships with the field teams and understand user pain points.

Scope: Individual contributor with comprehensive technical knowledge in specific area.

Principal Business Analyst - Job requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field required.

Experience: Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Management Experience: N/A

Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of techniques related to project/program management, business process redesign, technology awareness, requirements analysis and client relationship management. Ability to apply knowledge of systems life cycle, systems integration and data management principles. Business acumen with ability to align IT priorities with business objectives. Clear and effective writing and documenting skills. Ability to work on a team. Proficiency with business assessment/modeling tools.

Travel: Travel may be required.

Combination of candidate’s education and general experience satisfies requirements so long as the total years equate to description’s minimum education and general experience years combined (Management experience cannot be substituted).
