Lead Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

This is an individual contributor role responsible for leading and/or participating in the analysis and implementation of product, system and operational initiatives supporting changes in Mastercard's business environment with a specialized focus on Settlement Service offerings, settlement/liquidity risks, controls, policies and operations.

In This Role, You Will

  • Develop business cases to support recommendations for process or product improvements aimed at enhancing organizational capabilities and improving operational efficiencies
  • Partner with business owners to understand new business opportunities and define the business and functional requirements.
  • Deliver high quality business and functional requirements to the development teams for the purpose of completing the design, coding, testing, and implementation phases of the project life cycle.
  • Deliver in-depth and comprehensive financial, operational, customer and high level systems analysis to evaluate settlement risk and propose mitigating solutions for proposed new and enhanced systems and products.
  • Ensure development objectives are accomplished, user testing is performed, and member notification is prepared in a timely fashion.
  • Coordinate and assist in implementation of new or revised rules and policies.
  • Identifies risk in cross-functional designs and communication channels.
Lead Business Analyst - Job requirements

The ideal candidate for this position should:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Prior Business Analyst and Project Management experience
  • Applies extended expertise of principles, theories, and concepts
  • Broad knowledge of business/function and development life cycle
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in funds transfer solutions, financial analysis and planning
  • Self-starter with good leadership abilities
  • Requires minimal supervision/assistance
  • Good business writing skills and effective presentations skills
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Understands business context and market dynamics including Regulatory, Legal, Competitive and Technology landscapes
  • Leverages a thorough understanding of the Agile Software Development Lifecycle methodology to partner with Product Management – Technical and Software Development Guilds to develop scalable and sustainable products
  • Partners with and incorporates feedback from cross-functional stakeholders
  • Drive institutionalized knowledge through the use of consistent product documentation (e.g., support documents) across the framework
  • Demonstrates expertise of operational controls and risk mitigation obligations
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning by leveraging the learning & development curriculum to augment existing knowledge, skills, and experiences
  • Lead by example with hands-on approaches to demonstrate product management excellence and share best practices

Experiences

  • Relevant experience in financial Services / banking industry in project management and requirements gathering
  • Prior Business Analyst and Project Management experience required.
  • Experience with banking platforms is a plus
  • Experience with low-value and high value clearing and settlement systems cross the globe is a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Knowledge on MasterCard systems and applications is a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s in finance or similar field or equivalent work experience required.
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • A Certified Treasury Professional, Agile practitioner, PMP certifications are a plus.

Skills/ Abilities

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of software methodologies (i.e. functionality & limitations)
  • Requires little supervision.
  • Good leadership skills preferred.
