Job Description & Responsibilities
H&C Animal Health is hiring a Financial Business Analyst, that will sit in our Home Office located in Parker, CO. The Financial Business Analyst supports the H&C organization by analyzing data to create actionable insights. This role is responsible for analyzing large amounts of data, accurately projecting sales trends, identifying category and product opportunities, creating sales forecasts, and making recommendations to optimize sales and marketing activities to increase market share. This position will also be responsible for analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing insights to support strategic decision making. You will work closely with various departments including finance, sales, marketing and operations to ensure financial objectives are met and optimized. This role reports to the Sr. FP&A Analyst.
Essential Duties and include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Regularly assess and evaluate data to analyze and uncover opportunities and trends at the category and product level; compile and analyze data over time to develop forecasts and anticipate sales trends
- Provide accurate and consistent daily, weekly, and monthly reports on sales, consumption, shipments, and business performance; support on-going processes, including monthly forecasting and reporting variance analysis
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and long-term financial plans. Collaborate with other departments to gather input, review assumptions, and reconcile variances. Provide regular forecasts and updates to management
- Prepare cash flow reports to provide visibility into company’s cash position. Highlight key drivers impacting cash flow performance and communicate insights to senior management.
- Perform promotional analysis and reports on the effectiveness of promotional activities
- Analyze financial information (P&L and margins) & reports to provide accurate and timely analysis to assist management for decision making purpose
- Support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close process for accurate P&L and Balance Sheet comparatives, P&L and B/S analytics, and the preparation and submission of financial reporting deliverables
- Conduct a thorough analysis of financial data including sales, expenses, pricing, and profitability to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Utilize financial modeling techniques to forecast future performance and evaluate business scenarios.
- Build automated and repeatable analysis approaches to improve accuracy of reporting/analysis along with team efficiency
- Collaborate and build strong relationships with cross-functional team and external partners
- Ensure data integrity and troubleshoot any data issues by working closely with our internal IT team
- Contribute to the system and operational improvement initiatives related to reporting. Work with IT Team to test and validate new systems for reporting
- Establish and track progress on KPI’s for financial processes against standard industry benchmarks or other internally aligned benchmarks
- Drive process improvement and policy development initiatives
- Special Projects as needed
Requirements
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 2-5 years experience as a financial analyst or similar role on a finance or marketing team at a CPG company
- Ability to transform data into insightful and actionable information
- Previous experience and proficiency presenting analytical findings and recommendations
- Knowledge in advanced spreadsheet modeling, advanced analytics techniques, tools, data capabilities and report creation
- Familiar with both POS and Syndicated data (e.g., IRI, Nielsen, etc.)
- Understanding of retail concepts, terminology, Key Performance Indicators, and metrics
- Understanding of pet channel corporate practices/politics a plus
- Knowledge of economic and accounting principles a plus
- Knowledge of category management best practices a plus
- Familiar with EDI processes and formats a plus
- Understanding of analytical systems, and financial & statistical formulas
- Ability to move between strategic thinking and tactical execution; problem-solver
- Excellent attention to detail and drive for continual process improvement
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit; ability to work collaboratively in groups and individually
- Ability to handle multiple projects at once and meet tight deadlines
