Job Description & Responsibilities
The Business Analyst II serves as a primary liaison between Technology Services and business end users. They work with the business to analyze requirements and produce documented and approved specifications for any changes to existing applications as well as any new applications or functionality. The Business Analyst II collaborates with the quality assurance and development team to ensure that they clearly understand the specifications to deliver quality products. The person in this role drives requirements gathering sessions and help the business fully articulate its needs.
This particular role will be working with varios system integration teams and and should have and understanding of and will need hands on knowledge of various integration patterns, including change data management, microservices, APIs, and data mapping. This role must be able to effectively communicate complex concepts with vendors, customers, co-workers and management, both verbally and in writing.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Serves as Business Analyst in support of several existing as well as future applications.
- Be mindful of changes to the business that may impact the current solution - new products and business lines, acquisitions, reorganizations, system changes, etc.
- Partner with business stakeholders and data governance to identify where data quality gaps impact analysis and recommend prioritization.
- Drives requirements and definition sessions with both business users and development teams.
- Creates documents, workflows, process flows, and other artifacts used to capture, communicate and align business and data requirements
- Helps define and create standardized processes to facilitate the requirements gathering process.
- Collaborates within the Scrum team to provide clear understanding and context of the given business needs and project requirements.
- Supports both Agile and waterfall methodologies.
- Stays current on information published by organizations and individuals who are leading and influencing the practice of Business Analysis.
- Contributes ideas to the product backlogs that can help resolve ongoing issues and reduce technical debt.
- Trace unexpected results back to their source and diagnose underlying issues.
- Performs other duties as needed or required.
Requirements
Education And/or Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Information Systems, Business or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of Business or Integration Analyst experience with application development and other IT projects
- 5+ years of creating requirements documentation in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
- Must be a self-starter and highly organized
- Experience conducting requirements gathering workshops with business users
- Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with ecommerce, CRM and ERP systems
- Experience with documenting event streaming and microservices in Apache Kafka a plus
- Experience working with marketing, regulatory, sales and distribution operations a plus
Competencies (Skills & Abilities)
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Experience with incident and task management tools
- Basic understanding of application technologies
- Desired: Experience with legacy ERP computer system operations and .NET-based development tools a plus
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers in both Technology Services and the business
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Ability to present ideas in a user-friendly language
- Comfortable working with all levels of the organization
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative and consensus driven environment and comfortable with ambiguity and change in a fast-paced environment.
