Business Analyst, Tech Management - Job Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Analyst to join our Operations and Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing key support to our technology teams and closely collaborate to drive the development of robust business cases, project scoping, feasibility analysis and accurate cost estimations for infrastructure related initiatives. The Project Analyst will work closely with various departments, including technology, finance, and sourcing, to ensure projects are scoped correctly and are prepared for successful execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Business Case Development: Work closely with product teams to understand project objectives and requirements, and scope, translate them into comprehensive and compelling business cases.
  • Cost Estimation: Conduct thorough cost estimations for infrastructure projects considering hardware, software, labor, and other relevant factors. Ensure accuracy and alignment with budgetary constraints. Work with sourcing, demand, spend management teams to gather the correct licensing and cost information.
  • Financial modeling: Develop detailed financial models to support business cases, considering project lifecycles, Capex, Opex modeling, depreciation, and ROI analysis. Understand contractual agreements to find constructs and pricing information which pertain to various projects based on the technology used.
  • Risk assessment: Identify and assess potential risks associated with proposed projects, providing insights to stakeholders for informed decision-making.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product owners, engineers, finance, and operations to gather necessary data and insights.
  • Documentation: Prepare clear and concise project documentation, including business cases, cost breakdowns, and associated financial models, ensuring they align with organization standards.
  • Stakeholder communication: Effectively communicate project-related financial information and analysis along with business drivers to management and stakeholders, facilitating understanding and alignment, approval.
  • Process improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve project analysis processes, methodologies, and templates to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Business Analyst, Tech Management - Job requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Business, Finance, Accounting, Computer science or a related field.
  • Proven experience in project management and financial analysis with focus on infrastructure projects.
  • Analytical, detail-oriented, and strong financial modeling skills
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in a similar role within the finance or accounting industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint and other Microsoft Office applications

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
