Job Description & Responsibilities
We are North America’s largest book distributor with over 70,000 customer store locations. We move over 325,000,000 books per year and work with over 700 retailers and 500 publishers. We are currently recruiting for a Business Analyst II - Supply Chain for our Oak Brook, IL office.
The Business Analyst II- Supply Chain, works closely with the supply chain departments and is responsible for developing visualizations and providing analytical output on a project basis. This role will have a significant focus on supporting KPI metrics for supply chain functional areas, developing ad hoc solutions and engagement with supply chain initiatives.
What You Will Be Doing
- Strong analytical skills with ability to explore data, draw conclusions, and develop recommendations.
- Define and present business metrics to Stakeholders.
- Key Performance Indicators.
- Build analytical story from data points.
- Supply Chain responsibilities will include:
- Data model/strategy of all supply chain data.
- Build out of operational & freight dashboards with exception alerts.
- Regular weekly, monthly, quarterly recaps of supply chain performance and areas of opportunity.
- Budget vs actual review.
- Ad Hoc analysis including optimization projects.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports accurately, and present complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Build out data visualizations using various BI tools.
- Dashboards.
- Guided UI Pages for Business Users.
- Charts/Graphs.
- Perform ad hoc analysis with large data sets to call out and present key actionable insights.
- Discover and communicate actionable patterns and trends.
- Highlight exceptions and recommend actionable next steps.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments in order to gather requirements and provide status updates.
- Inform SMEs and stakeholders of progress and results.
- Support post-implementation of self-service analytics.
- Ability to adjust quickly to business needs and embrace change.
- Retain business requirements and remain adaptive, utilizing various analytical approaches.
- Leverage opportunities to skill up.
- Produce project documentation and present business user summarizations.
- Ability to work well in team environment and develop close relationships with all areas of the business.
- Possess collaborative work style, while partnering with cross-functional teams.
- Supplies guidance and creative ideas that build on initiatives.
- Other duties may be assigned, directed or requested.
Requirements
What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline.
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point).
- 2+ years of experience working with large data sets.
- Experience in Power BI and/or SQL.
- Familiarity with enterprise reporting and analysis tools.
- Problem solving skills with ability to think creatively.
- Team oriented, hardworking, open-minded, and flexible.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and adapt to change.
- Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to speak with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to create and write reports.
- Must be proficient in mathematics.
- Ability to do statistical analysis.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

What we offer
Salary: $70,000.00 - $83,000.00
