Business Analyst, SPECT
About Our Company
Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one.
Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world.
Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind.
You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.
Job Description & Responsibilities
The Selling Partner Empowerment, Communities, & Trust (SPECT) organization builds lasting connections with, and helps drive the success of our Selling Partners. An important part of this charter is understanding our impact on and opportunities to improve public perception that Amazon is good for our Selling Partner’s businesses. The Seller External Relations (SER) team within SPECT is responsible for ensuring that external perception mirrors the reality that Amazon’s stores are a great place for third-party sellers to build and maintain thriving businesses.
Business Analysts (BAs) are the bridge between our internal leaders, policy makers, and Selling Partners (SPs) to help provide the right data at the right time to influence policies on how Amazon is able to support Independent Sellers. BAs work directly with product, program, and policy owners to understand their needs and help them retrieve and analyze the data to meet those needs. They partner with the business leaders to ensure that the right strategic decisions are made, making suggestions as to what data could help solve their core business questions. The analyses and insights they provide directly inform policy makers on how Amazon is supporting our SPs and influences the way that this relationship will continue to grow. They write code in SQL and Python to retrieve and analyze this data, and build visualizations in AWS Quicksight to ensure that business leaders have access to that data in a way that’s easy to consume and refreshed regularly. When we don’t have the right data accessible, BAs work directly with Business Intelligence and Data Engineers (BIEs and DEs) to build requirements on data acquisition and storage to ensure that we have that data accessible long term.
