Job Description & Responsibilities
The R&D Systems Test Specialist & Business Analyst is a technical role within the Campbell’s Corporate R&D Digitization team. This team helps shape and support business and technical strategies for R&D product data management and digital capabilities for Campbell’s R&D organizations (Corporate, Meals & Beverage, and Snacks). This team is the business application technical expert for R&D and collaboratively works with IT to deliver on defect resolution, application enhancements, data requests, and process improvements.
This individual will use their R&D technical and application testing knowledge to develop and propose testing plans or approaches to ensure the functionality of our R&D business applications consistently meet our business and regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for maintaining test plans, test-script library, and will create new test scripts in our application management system. This role is also involved in the defect and enhancement process documenting requirements / use cases to meet the business needs of our R&D organization. The scope of work will range from basic to highly complex technical solutions, and will involve working with different applications, such Optiva and Electronic Lab Notebook.
The ideal candidate must have R&D experience and practical experience in application test planning and execution. They should be familiar with product commercialization data and processes and understand the importance of enterprise business process, data, and applications. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required; including the ability to communicate technical concepts in business terms. The individual should be comfortable working independently as well as in a team environment and be able to effectively prioritize day-to-day work.
Principal Responsibilities
50% R&D Systems Test Specialist
- Responsible for developing a comprehensive testing approach and specific test plans for R&D business applications; using a combination of R&D technical and application testing knowledge.
- This role will lead collaboration efforts with the Digitization team, end users and IT developers to understand the changes to the system, define testing objectives, and estimate testing efforts.
- Accountable for writing test plans, test scripts, and executing tests to confirm solutions work as designed.
- This role will ensure the upkeep and storage of test plans, test-script library, and create new test scripts in our application management system.
50% R&D Business Analyst
- Responsible for collaborating with business teams and IT to deliver comprehensive business requirements for system solutions (e.g., Optiva enhancements, defect resolution) that enable process simplification and efficiency by eliminating work or reducing time. This role will identify the impact of proposed changes and provide input into change management activities; such as preparing communication and training content for users.
- Expert in specific areas of functionality of R&D applications, such as workflows, reports, parameters, etc... responsible for proactively identifying problems and suggesting enhancements.
- Serve as strong advisor in shaping and maintaining our internal processes for defects & enhancement management. Act as main point of contact and team expert for our application management system (ALM Quality Center), providing training and onboarding support for the team.
- Manage Optiva business help desk queue in conjunction with other members of Digitization Team; including researching user issues and enhancement requests.
Job Complexity / Scope
- Apply critical thinking and knowledge of application testing best practices to develop test scenarios and test plans and write tests to validate resolution. The scope of work will range from basic to complex technical solutions delivering multipart test matrices.
- Ability to build tests scripts in our application management system to ensure our R&D business applications consistently meet business requirements and align to our validation protocols (21CFR Part 11).
- Ability to be testing coordinator for larger scale projects, such as a system upgrade or replacement and will provide input on testing resources needed for successful implementation.
- Ability to collaboratively work with business partners and IT and lead a project from end-to-end.
- This individual will lead meetings with business partners to identify pain-points, ensuring a clear understanding of the challenge and technical needs. With team input, they will propose possible solutions, document detailed requirements.
- Master at using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and identify improvement opportunities.
- Ability to learn new tools and other enterprise-wide systems and solutions.
Requirements
Job Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or IT related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience with system implementation and testing; experience in consumer-packaged goods (CPG) industry preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of application testing best practices and concepts; experience in developing detailed and comprehensive testing plans and test cases.
- Good understanding of IT technologies and their application in commercialization processes; experience implementing new software.
- Working knowledge of application testing solutions; experience with ALM Quality Center is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to identify and drive changes and improvements, and facilitate decisions, with support from manager and process owners.
- Ability to translate and document data and system requirements into technical terms for IT programmers, and technical concepts into business terms for process owners and training materials.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and thorough testing.
- Excellent critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize day-to-day work, manage multiple projects, and manage changing priorities with manager support. Comfortable with change.

What we offer
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$72,900-$117,300
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
