Job Description & Responsibilities
Brightcove is seeking a business analyst to support Brightcove’s go-to-market efforts.
Reporting to the Vice President of Product Strategy and working in partnership with the Product Management and Marketing teams, this individual will drive development and analysis of per-product business plans and strategic pricing initiatives in order to ensure that Brightcove’s offers are positioned for profitable growth.
This is a highly collaborative role that works across several departments to obtain data, generate insights, and present the findings in a clear and concise way to drive appropriate actions. This will happen through the careful analysis of: pricing, expected volume, product margins, product usage, market size, go-to-market decisions, and CAC/LTV ratios.
Deep knowledge of the video streaming industry is not required, but the individual must have keen business acumen and familiarity with B2B SaaS business models.
Job Responsibilities
Business case development and analysis
- Develop individual business cases in coordination with VP Strategy to support major initiatives (product roadmap, go-to-market, and other strategic initiatives)
- Work in collaboration with Product Management to create a succinct summary of the business plan (typically lean canvas format) including cost structures
- Work with Product Marketing and Pricing to model pro-forma bookings/revenue
- Model the unit economics CAC/LTV in collaboration with Marketing to assess the profitability of growth initiatives
- Model the upside/downside risks that can be used to roll up to a growth plan
- Recommend KPIs that could be used as business targets by Product and go-to-market teams
Market analysis & strategic pricing
- Model customer return on investment for products with business-oriented value propositions (e.g. savings from more efficient video encoding)
- Work with Market Insights teammates to model market sizes and attach rates
- Conduct strategic pricing analysis projects to help build pricing for new products
Analyze product usage
- Work with the Business Intelligence and Product teams to leverage product usage data to ground modeling assumptions for product-oriented business cases
- Calculate ratios to measure value (e.g. revenue per viewing minute, revenue per video)
- Analyze aggregate product usage trends and provide insights that can be used for product and go-to-market decisions as well as for externally-published industry reports.
Requirements
Qualifications/Experience
- BS/MS in Business or related fields
- Basic understanding of SaaS business models, direct-sales go-to-market models, and financial performance
- 2+ years in a business analyst position
- Ability to perform analysis in excel/google sheets (including: business modeling, statistics, forecasting, ROI calculations, and model sensitivity testing)
- Ability to prepare concise written and visual communications of complex data analysis to be easily understood by a wide range of stakeholders including senior management
- Works effectively and collaboratively with all levels of management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, global environment with multiple priorities that require strong project management and decision making skills
Additional/Desirable skills
- Experience video streaming industry is a plus
- Experience with data queries and tools: SQL, Python, and BigQuery

USA Brightcove Base Salary Range: $78,000 USD - $97,500 USD
