Business Analyst, Procurement - Job Role & Responsibilities

Arconic has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Procurement Business Analyst (with focus on Transportation) reporting to the Manager of Central Procurement Services. This individual will be innovative, creative, analytical, process driven, and collaborative.

This role will concentrate on development of transportation (logistics) reporting, enrich data models to enhance transparency, develop KPIs and reporting, prepare key presentations, function as project lead on defined initiatives, and most importantly be creative/inquisitive to understand procurement and transportation data to enable solution-based improvement opportunities for the Procurement Team and its stakeholders.

We will look to this individual in developing fresh, creative, and effective ideas that drive transparency, process optimization, compliance, and cost savings with the overarching target of strengthening our service level to stakeholders and customers.

This role requires an individual with a strong analytical mindset, excellent technical skills in Microsoft excel and BI applications, sound financial acumen, and knowledge of procurement and/or transportation. Excellent communication skills are essential as the role interfaces with a broad stakeholder base including operational teams, supply chain leaders, global process owners, customers, suppliers, and trade compliance.

Responsibilities for Internal Candidates

Key Deliverables:

  • Ownership of the transportation data reporting framework including data enrichment and integration of additional datasets into the model.
  • Standard reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including identification and development of new KPIs as business requirements evolve.
  • Establish a standardized forecasting model for transportation costs including integrating external market data sources to drive improved accuracy and automation.
  • Lead annual KPI target setting process in collaboration with stakeholders based on historical data coupled with planned business dynamics.
  • Evaluate AI to identify opportunities to introduce streamlined predicative analytics.
  • Function as project lead on defined initiatives to drive continuous improvements.
  • Proactively analyze procurement and transportation data to identify areas of opportunity.
  • Transportation Cost Bridge breakdown for automated assessment of cost changes.
  • Use Market Intelligence data to provide future cost projections of key commodities and recommendations of buying strategies to maximize value to shareholders.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify, define and deliver new global procurement tools and processes to lower cost structure and achieve world class cost benchmarks.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monthly reporting on KPIs and PMO dashboards.
  • Establish control reports and monitor to facilitate improvements, monitor costs and processes, and continuous assessment of TMS functionalities.
  • Build and maintain BI based reporting applications based on stakeholder requirements.
  • Host weekly meetings with plant teams to create a cadence of accountability on KPI performance, projects, and defined initiatives.
  • Build PowerPoint presentations for QBRs, MBRs and Leadership meetings.
  • Support requests for ad hoc analysis and reports.
  • Collaborate with Carriers on defined initiatives to drive progression.
  • Lead the Annual KPI Target setting process to define SMART targets broken down be required categories and roll up into harmonized target.
  • Build and generate updated monthly transportation cost forecasts for financial planning process.
  • Identify opportunities and design solutions by leveraging existing and recent technologies.
  • Support the continuous improvement of business processes and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Establish data mapping, work with IT resources to resolve data and interface issues.
  • Fully understand the various global procurement business processes and how these relate to the requirements for building reports, data, business intelligence and KPIs.
  • Backup for colleagues to cover vacation and absence.
  • Be Inquisitive – immersed in the Transportation data to regularly provide areas of opportunity to support the continuous improvement of business processes and cost reduction opportunities.
Business Analyst, Procurement - Job requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or Information Systems).
  • 5 years of experience in data analytics, Finance, Accounting, logistics, transportation, or Procurement.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert in Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, and BI applications
  • Problem solving, organization, decision-making, communication, and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical, collaborative and communication skills.
  • Experience with project management.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, e2Open (previously BluJay) TMS, warehouse and/or transportation procedures/operations.
