Job Description & Responsibilities
Shopbop is looking for a Business Analyst to help improve and grow Shopbop’s presence in Amazon Marketplace. This person should have a track-record of helping to grow and manage key functions of a business. Top characteristics desired are detail-orientated, process-focused, customer-focused, and a team player with a passion for problem-solving and efficiency. This person must be excellent at prioritizing and working cross-functionally to deliver on improvements – as well as documenting and measuring the success of those actions. This individual must be an exceptional communicator who works to understand (in some cases challenge) and meet requirements of multiple teams. The responsibilities and qualifications listed below are further representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
The person in this role will help to manage Shopbop’s business of selling on Amazon Marketplace, including day-to-day business evaluation, creating and simplifying reporting through automation, data visualization, forecasting and building financial plans, identifying and socializing opportunities for growth. This person must proactively create mechanisms and partner with cross-functional teams to identify pain points or opportunities that will improve product availability, conversion and revenue. The Marketplace Analyst will be a quick learner, detail oriented and collaborative – able to work across teams and possess expertise in both qualitative and quantitative analysis with a passion for delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders. The right candidate will blend advanced reporting with strong critical thinking and project management skills. Your success in the role will have a large impact on improving the customer experience and growing Shopbop’s Marketplace business.
Key job responsibilities
- Analyze and solve business problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.
- Develop and drive critical metrics to monitor and optimize the business. Own Marketplace business reporting, including creation of reports and dashboards, synthesis of take-aways, and action items. Use data mining, model building, and other analytical techniques to develop customer insights and business opportunities.
- Drive business performance reporting and facilitate team reviews weekly, monthly, and quarterly.
- Build business forecasts and track progress, understand business drivers, and identify levers to improve against trajectory. Contribute to progress updates and performance summaries to company business review documents. Report on business to broader group of stakeholders regularly, engage in related discussions, and own follow-ups.
- Assist with major projects through data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.
- Support cross-functional teams on day-to-day business management, marketing, promotions and operations. Design and implement reporting solutions to enable stakeholders to make effective decisions.
- Act as a primary liaison with Buying and Planning teams to identify opportunities for growth. Create scalable tools and reporting to facilitate Marketplace specific insights and actions.
- Work within the Shopbop and Amazon teams to identify customer pain points and create new or improved experiences for the customer.
- Manage and refine key business processes, making recommendations for automation where needed and working with relevant teams on prioritization.
- Partner with key stakeholders from Product Management and Technology to prioritize roadmap decisions.
- Build and maintain appropriate and beneficial relationships with key Amazon teams.

Requirements
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 5+ years of Excel and data visualization tools
- 3+ years of business or financial analysis experience
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience with SQL; strong proficiency needed
- Experience making business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
- Ability to deep dive into data and generate accurate conclusions and recommendations
- Ability to quickly learn new systems and databases
- Experience in an e-commerce environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong bias for action and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
- Impeccable time management skills for self as well as team members
- Ability to influence and align stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, or other technical field from an accredited university
- Experience with Amazon Marketplace systems such as Seller Central or Vendor Central
- Understanding of how to drive success selling a product on Amazon
- Experience working with tech teams on process automation
What we offer
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $51,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $123,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits
