Business Analyst, IT - Job Role & Responsibilities

Crum & Forster provides specialty and standard commercial lines insurance products through our admitted and surplus lines insurance companies. Operating out of our corporate offices in Morristown, New Jersey, and ten regional offices, we distribute our products through approximately 1,500 authorized retail and wholesale brokers across the United States. We are looking for innovative, talented, and self-motivated individuals who are interested in working with a cross-functional team focused on implementing and supporting a CAESAR Data Warehouse (i.e. Enterprise Data Warehouse).

The C&F IT Organization leverages Agile principles to achieve success in its support of the business. IT resources are assigned to squads that have specific missions. Each squad consists of a cross-functional set of team members from the various disciplines that are needed to complete the mission. Business Analyst for Data Warehouse team in P&C insurance.

What You Will Do

  • Describe the business need in the form of User Stories and Acceptance Criteria Organizes and documents supporting detailed requirements
  • Ensures that the other squad members have a clear understanding of the business needs and requirements Works closely with other team members to ensure quality deliverables that are fit for purpose
  • Provides a thorough analysis of issues & solutions
  • The position will also include analysis for Bureau Reporting (Unit Stat, ISO and Mass Auto, NCCI, SFAA)
  • The Business Analyst works very closely with all stakeholders including business customers, vendors, and internal resources in order to facilitate team communication and achieve the squad’s mission
  • Work with our Stakeholders and understand their business requirements
  • Work with the CAESAR team to come up with a solution to accommodate Business & Technical Requirements Liaison between business and technology
  • Analyze processes and data to identify any opportunities related to process optimization
  • Make a transformation or migration easier for our Business Translate complex business processes during development Create and finalize requirements for any new Reports Work with business and IT to integrate new data sets Identify opportunities to improve existing data sets Analyze data to improve Data Quality
  • Help users understand our data eco-system Bring more data awareness within business and IT
  • Work with the business and IT to mitigate current and future data issues or challenges
  • Ability to analyze and decompose problem statements, distilling these into clearly defined requirements.
  • A confident and effective communicator, with experience and comfort addressing and collaborating with IT and business stakeholders and other sr/jr team members
  • Ability to impart complex information in an easily digestible form, to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Act as a bridge between the Business and Technology using technical and analytical skills to enhance or implement new Data Warehouse processes
  • Identify ways to improve existing data quality
  • Validate data, as needed, and test applications for business requirements, functionality, and usability
  • Gathers, analyzes, defines, and documents requirements and communicates them to the technical & non-technical audience --Define and deliver metrics, reports, dashboards, and data warehousing solutions for tracking and managing the business objectives -Identify ways to incorporate automation in any deliverables
  • Identify business challenges and initiate process improvement projects Facilitate and help modernize the data ingestion and consumption process Create Business flow/Data Flow diagrams
  • Create a Source to target mappings
  • Provide analyses for large datasets necessary for decisions using actionable insights Collaborate with various business groups to build scalable processes and metrics
  • Responsible for carrying out complex analysis of datasets and conducting appropriate data validation Responsible for gathering and validating datasets across multiple data sources
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing key insights
  • Provide information on analytic results to business and functional leaders using visualizations to communicate data and metrics, including data maps, leveraging Tableau, etc.
  • Define KPIs to track key business processes

What You Will Bring To C&F

  • A bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of experience in Business Analysis of Data Warehouse, data, and its processes
  • Experience with writing complex SQL is a must
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills Logical and efficient, with keen attention to detail
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Understanding and working experience with cloud technologies is a plus (i.e. Azure, Snowflake) Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Familiar with Jira, Confluence, and Agile Processes
