Job Description & Responsibilities
Join the Play Strategy Operations and Analytics team. We work on a variety of challenging projects to drive product decisions for Play. This team is truly embedded in the product development lifecycle. We are thought partners from project ideation to experimentation, and our in-depth analysis consistently helps set strategy for the wider area we work on. This role includes components of data engineering, analytics, and executive communication.
As a Business Analyst, you are the ultimate data expert and solve problems, conducting interviews and synthesizing ideas. You will work with a small team on projects commissioned by Google Play's executive team, managing your own workstream(s) as you go.
Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement automated and standardized analysis tools, empowering business stakeholders to uncover business opportunities and make informed decisions.
- Scrutinize and validate data integrity throughout the collection process, performing data profiling to identify and comprehend data anomalies.
- Investigate the root causes of business problems, providing solutions that go beyond superficial observations.
- Deliver effective presentations of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information.
- Follow engineering best practices to create scalable data pipelines and models.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience in statistical problem solving and analyzing data sets using SQL or related coding language (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++).
- 6 years of experience turning data into a narrative with visualizations (e.g., charts, graphs, tables) and presenting to HR professionals and executives.
- 6 years of experience interacting with and manipulating data using tools such as SQL, R, or other statistical languages.
- 6 years of experience working in data analytics, consulting, data science, engineering, or a technical operations role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree.
- 5 years of experience in scripting, statistical analysis (e.g., Python, R, Stata, SPSS, SAS), developing and managing metrics, and evaluating programs/products.
- 5 years of experience preparing and delivering technical presentations to executive leadership.
- Experience with R, SQL, spreadsheets, or similar analytics tools.
- Experience working with Product and Engineering teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
What we offer
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $134,000-$198,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
