Job Description & Responsibilities
The Commercial Business Analyst will rotate through a Commercial Development Program consisting of rotations in Logistics, Quality Control and FP&A. Additionally this position provides customer service, project development, and analytical support to the business unit representatives. The Commercial Business Analyst will be responsible for regional market analysis, customer/competitor analysis, and monthly/quarterly business analytics. Additional responsibilities include the analysis and preparation of various ad hoc reports. This position will include providing support to the Logistics, Quality Control, and FP&A teams on an as-needed basis.
Regular use and/or application of theories/principles/concepts/techniques as obtained by higher education or equivalent experience. Compiles, examines and analyzes information and selects best resolutions to issues of moderate complexity/scope and regularly exercises judgment within defined practices/procedures to determine objectives of assignments and appropriate actions. Works under normal supervision with general instruction on routine work, but more detailed instruction on new projects/assignments. Work is generally reviewed for accuracy and overall adequacy. Has authority to use latitude or make independent decisions regarding matters related to assignments and objectives. Failure to achieve results or erroneous judgments/recommendations may require the allocation of additional resources to correct or achieve goals.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Analyzes current customer volumes to develop an understanding of market trends. Consults with customers, reviews contracts and communicates with the logistics teams to develop an understanding and help anticipate customer requirements. Communicates compiled results to the Commercial team. Works with third-party consultants to understand the markets we serve for crude oil and the impact the global economy can have on our business and customers. Analyzes the information available and provides a recommended short, middle, and long-term point of view (POV). Through this analysis, the Marketing Analyst will provide leads for potential new customers to the commercial team and provide insight into competitor strategy.
Compiles and ensures accurate performance reports for the terminal group (Gross Margin report, Tank Turn Analysis, Month-to-Month Results, Terminal Market Analysis, monthly/annual forecasting, etc.) Supports the Manager of Marketing & Development in managing internal work teams to execute expansion projects. Assists in the development of the scope, estimate, and project economics.
Perform due diligence on potential acquisition candidates and research divestiture projects. Coordinates with internal groups to ensure smooth transitions.

Education
Bachelor's Degree Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing
Work Experience
1 - 2 years related work experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of: financial modeling preferred
- Knowledge of: energy industry economics preferred
- Knowledge of: midstream commercial dynamics preferred
- Knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite, with knowledge of business intelligence tools such as Spotfire preferred
- Ability to: develop and maintain data related to financial forecasts, models and statistics
- Ability to: read and interpret commercial contracts
- Ability to: communicate effectively with others
