Business Analyst, Commerce - Job Role & Responsibilities

Eaton’s Information Technology division is currently seeking a Web Commerce – Business Analyst to join our team. This position can be based at our Beachwood, Ohio, Moon TWP, PA, Raleigh, NC, Menomonee Falls, Houston, TX or Southfield, MI office locations. The position is eligible for a hybrid work setup.

The Business Analyst serves as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the IT function, leveraging expertise in business analysis to recommend and implement solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.

The Analyst is responsible for defining, grooming, and decomposing user stories and prioritize the team’s backlog. The Business Analyst will act as a primary point of contact for related user stories and will own individual stories and epics. The individual in this role will work closely with the Product Owner, business partners and customers to define stories epics that align with key business objectives. They will focus on the full product lifecycle from innovation of new and enhanced features to continuous improvement, system health, and support.

The Business Analyst works directly with other analysts, engineers, and product team members to execute the product roadmap, to product development sprints, define use stories, and provide voice of the customer within product processes.

The BA is self-managed and has the ability to estimate project work, define business requirements planning & approach, stakeholder assessment, plan, facilitate requirements elicitation workshops/interviews, perform analysis of requirements, manage traceability of requirements through design, development and validation, able to prepare and lead UAT plan, scripts and testing

  • Requirements Elicitation: Conduct requirements gathering activities (brainstorming, focus groups, interviews, observation, prototyping, workshops), document the results, and validate that the documented requirements meet the stakeholders’ needs. Work with business stakeholders to define data required for product operation. Validate user stories against existing data and use cases.
  • Requirements Management & Communication: Assess requirements to ensure they fall within the solution scope, ensure requirements are aligned with and traceable to business objectives and solution design, and ensure requirements are communicated and presented in a format that are understandable to stakeholders, including solutions designers and developers.
  • Enterprise Analysis: Led the decomposition of epics into features and user stories.
  • Support estimation of epics, features, technical enablers, and user stories
  • Enterprise Analysis: Analyze, prioritize and organize requirements to ensure efforts focus on the most critical needs, model requirements to demonstrate process and or solution function, and validate that the requirements support the delivery of value.
  • Solution Assessment: Review and evaluate IT solution designs to ensure the proposed solution meets the business requirements. Support issue resolution on a product and solution level. Clarify user stories and business questions raised by the team. Act as liaison between business stakeholders and the technical team, ensuring user story completeness
  • Validation: Ensure readiness of user stories for agile team according to definition of ready criteria. Identify and document test scenarios and test data. Defines acceptance criteria for user stories.
Business Analyst, Commerce - Job requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in business analysis
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-duty military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
  • This position requires the use of information or access to hardware that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Business process knowledge relative to web commerce.
  • Experience with SAP QTC processes
  • Experience working within agile scrum and/or Kanban delivery teams
  • Experience with modern technology architecture principles including APIs, microservices, and cloud services
