Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

We are now looking for a technical BA to join our NY team on an exciting new project!

We're building a trading platform for a high-profile US-based client. This is a greenfield development using industry leading technology. The platform will feature trade execution, order management and risk management functionality. It will involve multiple integrations to both internal and external system, based on FIX and REST API. One of the key aspects of this platform will be resiliency - it is critical that the platform supports multiple failover resolution aspects and that the platform remains highly available at all times. The platform will exhibit functional that you would expect to see in equities, fixed income and other asset-based trading platforms that you would expect to find at leading capital markets organizations or trading exchanges or venues.

YOU WILL:

BE A KEY PERSON IN ANIMATING THE ACTIVITIES OF THE AGILE TEAM:

  • Use your personal experience with Agile delivery to take advantage of its strengths and mitigate its potential risks
  • Tailor the process to the team and the project circumstances
  • Work with our clients and PM to manage the scope of the delivery and build a delivery plan
  • Actively monitor and mitigate project risk
  • Report project status to client and Adaptive stakeholders, and communicate transparently
  • Actively manage the client’s expectations
  • Make assumptions explicit and create a document trail for important decisions taken throughout the engagement. In that same spirit, help onboard new team members and facilitate handover

MANAGE THE PROJECT BACKLOG:

  • Help stakeholders in making their vision for the product come true
  • Convey that vision to the team for alignment purposes, and so they can make holistic design decisions that will support the delivery
  • Create & maintain a backlog of deliverable stories for the team
  • Be the stakeholders’ proxy in the team, able to make quick, firm decisions when it comes to scope, requirements and prioritization/triage
  • Involve team members when their perspective can bring value, including times when it can support scope and priority decisions
  • Follow up during the implementation and testing phases to ensure delivery satisfies the requirements
Business Analyst - Job requirements

YOU ARE:

  • US-based (with a preference for NYC)
  • Able to keep up with technical depth of implementation – We are building a complex platform with high resilience requirements and the BA will need enough technical literacy to quickly grasp what is being built and converse with our backend developers efficiently
  • A great relationship builder with your team and clients – We will work in close collaboration with the client’s technical team and BA
  • A driven, but patient and empathetic person – This project requires integration with multiple systems in a highly-regimented environment; you need to be a constant, positive driving force while respecting our client’s culture and processes
  • Experienced within the financial industry

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $130,000.00 and $165,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position. Actual starting base pay will be determined on skills, experience, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other perks, as outlined in any formal offer made.
