Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

We're on the lookout for a Business Analyst . As a Business Analyst you will determine and document detailed business requirements for system development and production support activities for all Davies Life and Health and vendor provided systems. Coordinate and develop test cases, execute test plans and assist developers in resolving system problems. Assist in developing user training materials, delivering training and assisting users with system-related questions.

Responsibilities and Duties

Business Requirements

  • Develop and document detailed business specifications to support system development and testing.
  • Research and answer questions from developers and business community.
  • Participate in and document (as needed) business requirement gathering meetings.

Testing/Troubleshooting

  • Develop and document test cases.
  • Assist in test execution and documentation of results.
  • Assist developers in determining the cause of system problems.

Change Management

  • Identify change requests.
  • Work with client engagement lead to determine impact to scope.
  • Identify solution options with team members.

System Support

  • Assist in the development of end user reports.
  • Design, develop and implement OnBase solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Review enhancement recommendations to assist in determining both the benefit of the proposed change and the cost (e.g., time to develop) of implementing the change.

Training/Documentation

  • Inform users of changes/enhancements to the system.
  • Develop/enhance training materials.
  • Develop necessary process documentation, including process flow and context diagrams
  • Provide system/system enhancements training.
  • Provide end user support.
  • Maintain project documentation in appropriate folders.

Issue/Defect Management

  • Define, document, track and manage defect/ issues during project.
  • Provide guidance to work around solutions as applicable.

Communication

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships and communication with the team, co-workers, clients and vendors.
  • Clear and coherent status updates.

Other

  • Participate in special projects as needed, such as BA Center of Practice
  • Other related job functions as required.

This role is a full-time remote position and ability to travel up to 10%.

Business Analyst - Job requirements

Your Expertise, Skills, And Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Business Administration or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience working on multiple software projects in various roles or 2 years of experience with an advanced degree
  • Minimum of 3+ years of insurance industry experience, preferably life, disability and/or long-term care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, organization, analytical, planning and leadership skills.
  • Strong management, communication, technical and remote collaboration skills.
  • Excellent team collaboration skills, to include experience in dealing with multiple projects and multi-functional teams, and ability to coordinate across teams in a large matrix organization environment.
  • Strong relationship building and maintaining skills. Fosters a climate conducive to establishing positive working relationships with clients (internal and external).
  • Strong proficiency and working knowledge in Davies Life & Health policy admin systems, OnBase, SQL and MS Office Suite including Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Visio (or similar mapping tools.)
  • Experience working with SDLC and/or Agile development methodology preferred
