Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

This role ensures D&T makes a strategic impact on the Diageo business, working with business sponsors, the regional D&T team, and Global teams e.g, Value Streams to improve D&T value in market.

Purpose of Role

This role works hand in hand with the D&T Market Lead for US Spirits to ensure overall end to end D&T capabilities within their market(s), bringing maximum value for Diageo. The role of Business Analyst is naturally flexible to bridge across multiple areas of D&T scope depending on priorities agreed with the market. A solid understanding of the business processes as well as existing system usage allows the candidate to find opportunities for technology-enabled innovation and to work collaboratively to deliver on our commitments.

The role provides the insight to define and measure “As Is” business capability maturity, understand the gaps to close, and define the required “To Be” model to deliver against Diageo strategic goals. The candidate will inspire, engage, and collaborate with domain experts across Diageo to define the process, data, people, and tech to deliver strategic business outcomes.

This role/candidate is an important member of the regional D&T team, and will work closely with the wider regional teams and Value Streams as needed.

Market Complexity

D&T delivers products to all Diageo markets and functions. This role, where appropriate, will be part of multiple market and global working groups working in conjunction with the D&T Market Lead to ensure D&T delivers end to end across the spectrum of capabilities. This often includes a portfolio of complex geographic/ functional/ process/ system footprints.

Leadership Responsibilities & Capabilities

This role works closely with the wider D&T team to ensure optimal executional delivery of D&T into their market. The role requires a breadth of expertise both in analysis and partnering to ensure proficient accountability and ensure high quality deliver of D&T for the market.

Financial Complexity

The market business analyst will, depending on the market scale, have involvement in projects and regional capability analysis on systems and resources investment in multiple millions.

Top Accountabilities

Market Business Analysis:

  • Capturing “As Is” business capability maturity and process to atleast L4 (i.e., “Deliver Order”)
  • Define, align & publish “To Be” business capability maturity to deliver Diageo strategic objectives, including target process flows
  • Anticipating & identifying future opportunities and providing external perspectives
  • Support application rationalization roadmap
  • Support development of robust case to facilitate effective and transparent strategic prioritization of D&T investment
  • Support identification of high-level change impact from development/ transformation of identified business capabilities

Business Engagement And Value Realization

  • Build credible relationships with collaborators and SMEs within market, enabling solid understanding and representation of the market within D&T
  • Collaborate with market(s) to identify technology solutions that align with their strategic priorities and drive operational efficiency
  • Conscious of and works towards value optimization of D&T for their market, considering new technology investments, adoption and usage of key systems, as well as service excellence

Strategy And Execution

  • Participate and perform analysis in strategic planning sessions to provide technology insights and recommendations
  • Work closely with business units to gather requirements and translate them into actionable technology initiatives
  • Collaborate with the solution teams in respective value streams to successfully deliver the technology roadmap as per commitments

Benefits Realization And Adoption

  • Support business units during the transition to new technology solutions, ensuring organizational impact is understood and prepared for
  • Support change management efforts to facilitate smooth technology adoption within the region
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of technology implementations and make recommendations for improvement
  • Monitor adoption of solutions and define interventions where needed

Service Operations And Employee Experience

  • Have an awareness of the operational tech landscape, staying aware of service and maintenance activities and supporting as needed
  • Find opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiencies in ways of working
  • Work as part of Regional team on overall Regional Performance Management reporting

Qualifications And Experience Required

  • At least 2 years of responsibilities in IS or an IS focused business area
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field
  • Training or knowledge of supported business domain areas
  • Experience in identifying and assessing business capability maturity required to deliver strategic outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain good business relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively engage multi-functional teams
  • A strong track record of working within large matrixed organizations
  • Has a passion for continuous improvement
  • Has the foresight to see potential issues, performance challenges and risks, and has the necessary skills to influence and negotiate with the right people to maintain performance
  • Is comfortable (and resilient) working in fluid, fast-changing environments under pressure with high levels of ambiguity
  • An understanding of both the current business’s industry and emerging business, consumer, and technology trends
  • Ability to periodically travel within the region as required
