Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

Digital products play a key role in the successful digital transformation of CSL by supporting the definition of a companywide digital experience strategy and ensuring its successful execution. Leveraging existing and new technology, the team focuses on the development of engaging experiences for customers, patients, donors, and employees.

In collaboration with cross-functional teams from I&T and the business analyst is responsible for business and technical evaluation of product features and functionalities that enable the organizations’ business processes to be aligned with strategy. This role requires the analyst to elicit requirements, dependencies, understand the overall picture and work with the Product Owner, development team, designers, and testers to prioritize solutions. This role is also responsible for documentation and maintenance of the product features, functionalities, and nuances. Empowered to make judgements within their respective job area, the business analyst contributes to enterprise application standards, strategies, and plans. They also serve as the “content authority” for the solution/product they are responsible for.

Representing the interests of all relevant stakeholders, the analyst creates user stories, epics, and solutions for the product backlog (a prioritized set of features) to deliver a whole, valuable solution/product that will continuously improve over time. In collaboration with relevant teams, the solutions/products will be architected according to identified business capability needs and enterprise technology standards/processes as appropriate.

This role also learns and continually keeps an eye on innovative methodologies that could improve Plasma Digital Products & Services. They work collaboratively across I&T and business functions to achieve strategic initiatives and ensure value driven outcomes.

The Role

  • Partners with PO, Sr. Manager, and business stakeholders to understand, prioritize, and translate business requirements across mobile, web, innovation, and integration areas in the Plasma ecosystem.
  • Responsible for eliciting requirements and developing acceptance criteria and requirements in user stories, through analysis, process flows, and flow diagrams in Jira and Confluence. Responsible for quality and accuracy of requirements.
  • Responsible for understanding critical aspects of each solution, including data models, high level technical setup, workflows, and business processes.
  • Collaborate with Developers to ensure accurate design and implementation of business/system requirements.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance Analyst to ensure comprehensive requirements-based testing is achieved. Collaborates with Project Manager/Scrum Master to ensure team objectives are met.
  • Participate in scrum activities and other necessary team activities for the product.
  • Contribute to the creation of roadmaps of prioritized future capabilities for their solution/product domain.
  • Leverage direct and indirect IT resources to continuously manage the solution/product, meeting the agreed requirements within timescales while adhering to necessary governance and controls.
  • Prepare activity and progress reports regarding applications, product milestones, and project activities for area of responsibility.
  • Ensure training and compliance with appropriate regulatory guidelines, cQMS, security guidelines, and I&T policies and procedures.
  • Manage lifecycle management activities of solution/product in line with enterprise application processes and non-functional roadmaps.
  • Foster effective communication with team members for solution/product release plans, status updates and issue reporting.
Business Analyst - Job requirements

Your Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or experience, preferably concentrated in IT, Engineering or Science.
  • 7+ years IT experience, including specific experience in business analysis and/or product management.
  • Pharma/Biotech or similarly regulated environment experience desirable.
  • Experience managing solution/product technologies and digital initiatives at a global and/or regional level.
  • Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, and process execution.
  • Has advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and prior experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple delivery methodologies from traditional waterfall to Agile/Lean/DevOps/Product methodologies.
  • Experience in converting business requirements and functional requirements to use cases and user stories with acceptance criteria.
  • Demonstrated ability to quantify resource requirements and measure and communicate proposed project benefits.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage both technical and business partners to achieve target outcomes.
  • Outstanding ability to collaborate with leadership, peers, and other internal and external. stakeholder groups, and communicate in a clear, concise, and effective manner.
  • Experience of working in heavily matrixed organizations.
  • Adaptable to handle a fast-paced working environment.
What we offer at CSL

The expected base salary range for this position at hiring is $80,000 - $100,000. Please note this salary range reflects the minimum and maximum base pay that CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base salary for a successful candidate is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies, and other relevant factors. In addition to base salary, total compensation for this role may also include incentive compensation and equity.
