Business Analyst - Job Role & Responsibilities

Trissential is seeking a Business Analyst to join our client team remotely. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in business analysis, a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and proficiency in using remote collaboration tools. This candidate will be adept at handling multiple projects concurrently and will possess the skills to create precise functional requirements documents. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal skills, an ability to foster client relationships, and a knack for understanding and addressing client needs effectively. This role is open only to candidates authorized to work and reside in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Elicit requirements using various techniques such as interviews, document analysis, workshops, storyboards, surveys, site visits, use cases, scenarios, and workflow analysis
  • Write clear and concise requirements specifications according to standard templates, and represent requirements using alternative views where appropriate
  • Decompose high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements with sufficient detail for use by the development team
  • Identify current and future-state business processes, and define quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and nonfunctional requirements
  • Lead requirements analysis and verification to ensure statements are complete, consistent, concise, comprehensible, traceable, feasible, unambiguous, and verifiable
  • Participate in requirements prioritization and facilitate negotiations among multiple stakeholders
  • Analyze and document business requirements and data to deliver work products throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate Business Validation to ensure end-to-end business processes function as intended
  • Collaborate with the product manager or project sponsor to document the product’s vision and project scope
  • Participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirements documents to ensure correct interpretation
  • Manage requirements traceability and track requirements status throughout the project
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are understood and met
  • Facilitate effective communication between clients, stakeholders, and the development team to ensure project success
Business Analyst - Job requirements

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of Business Analysis experience
  • One (1) year of experience using remote collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams, Skype, SharePoint, etc.
  • Experience in handling multiple projects concurrently
  • Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with different project methodologies including Waterfall and Agile
  • Ability to create accurate functional requirements documents, including user stories, diagrams, process flows, RACI, and other necessary documentation

Essential Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in requirements elicitation and documentation
  • Ability to lead and facilitate requirement analysis and verification sessions
  • Experience with requirements prioritization and negotiation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and stakeholders
  • Effective communication and active listening skills to understand client needs and convey complex information clearly

Desired Skills

  • Experience with projects in environmental or scientific domains
  • Familiarity with applications used for tracking and analyzing data
  • Knowledge of internal hosting and migration of vendor-hosted applications

Experience

  • A minimum of five (5) years of Business Analysis experience
  • At least one (1) year of experience using remote collaboration tools
  • Experience working with complex and scientific internal custom applications, particularly in data analysis and reporting contexts
